The Reverend Helen White was born and raised for the most part in Dothan, Alabama growing up in the Episcopal Church as the daughter of an Episcopal priest. Mother Helen majored in Religion at Furman University and met her future husband, The Reverend Michael White while working with homeless adults in Washington, DC. Michael was a seminarian from the Diocese of Georgia at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS). They married and moved to Statesboro, Georgia where she attended graduate school at Georgia Southern and received an MEd in Middle Grades. The couple's next move was to Richmond Hill, where now Father White became the full time Vicar of Saint Elizabeth's Richmond Hill in 1997. He succeeded then Deacon James Parker who was working toward becoming ordained to the priesthood. Helen worked as a teacher at Richmond Hill Middle School and supervised the youth program at Saint Elizabeth's.
When the couple moved to moved to Durham Helen stayed home with their children, Ethan and Jay. years. In 2005 Helen entered VTS in Virginia. While there she worked as a seminarian at St. Mark's church located directly behind the U.S. Capitol. Last summer she spent three weeks in Canterbury England with Anglicans from all over the world. She was ordained Deacon by Bishop Louttit at this year's Diocesan Convention in February. She graduated with honors from VTS May 22. She joined us as Assistant Rector and Episcopal Chaplain to Armstrong Atlantic State University in the Summer of 2008. She was ordained priest in late August of this year. As mentioned above Michael and Helen have two children, Ethan, 9 and Jay, 7. Father Michael White has been elected Rector of Christ Church (Episcopal), in Savannah.
