WELCOME!
Saint George's Episcopal Church has been a fixture on
the southside of Savannah since the early 1960's. We
are one of almost 70 Episcopal congregations that
make up the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, founded in
the 1800's and a part of the larger world-wide Anglican
Communion. We are a warm and welcoming
community of faith, dedicated to making a difference in
our community in the name of Jesus Christ.
WORSHIP
We worship together every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Holy
Communion, also known as the Holy Eucharist or the
Lord's Supper, is our central act of worship. We pray,
sing and listen to God's Word through scripture
readings and sermons. The entire community
participates, from youth to the elderly. Various
members serve at the altar, read the day's scripture
lessons, offer up the prayers of the faithful or help
administer Holy Communion. Our choir offers special
anthems and supports the congregation as we sing
hymns, ancient and modern.
We also gather on Wednesday Mornings at 10 a.m.
and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m for a less formal
Holy Communion service, followed by bible study and
discussion.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
In addition to our Thursday program we hold a lively adult forum on Sundays after the worship service
along with Christian education opportunities for children and youth. Nursery services are provided at
Sunday worship, but children are always welcome in church.
OUTREACH
We continue to look for new opportunities to serve our south side community. Presently we are involved
with S.A.F.E. Shelter, a respite place for battered women. We have a tutoring program for elementary
school children and a "comfort pillow" ministry at all area hospitals. Our clergy visit the sick and provide
pastoral care not only to the parish, but to the community at large.
Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, we invite you to join us at Saint George's as we continue to
seek to be faithful to the Good News of God in Jesus Christ.
